SPECIAL ALLOCATION SCHEME
The Special Allocation Scheme (SAS) service is for patients who have been removed from a GP in Salford or Trafford, following an incident in which the Police have been informed.
Patients remain in the SAS service for a minimum of 12 months.
To avoid this being solely a punitive placement, SPCT uses it as an opportunity to rehabilitate. This is done by building trust and developing positive therapeutic relationships.
This service works closely with the Inclusion Service and the teams are able to use their expertise to help achieve our aims.
Over the last 12 months:
- The service has continued to operate successfully.
- Completed an integration of teams to ensure that we use the most skilled staff to manage the SAS.
- Ensured monthly review meetings are conducted to discuss patients who may be able to re-integrate into mainstream General Practice.
Looking ahead:
- SPCT wants to ensure it continues to meet KPI’s.
- Work closely with commissioners to ensure that we do what we can to support the rehabilitation of patients so they can be discharged from the SAS service.
