• Dr Dawood Anwar, MB ChB, MRCGP, MRCS, Chief Accountable Officer, Board Member

    Dawood is a clinician by background, holding membership with the Royal College of General Practitioners as well as the Royal of College of Surgeons. He has been working with Salford Primary Care Together since September 2018. He is a proven healthcare leader and possesses strong communication skills, empathy, adaptability and ability to inspire and motivate others.

    He has proven himself to be a strategic thinker and has a commitment to growth and development for himself and others around him. He is currently undertaking an MBA in healthcare leadership. Dawood has recently led on significant development and transformation within SPCT to ensure it remains a strong and sustainable organisation.

    He has developed a keen interest in primary urgent care service provision, especially the integration of services to simplify the patient journey. Other than urgent care, Dawood’s clinical interests include MSK medicine in both primary and secondary care settings.

  • Helena Leyden, Interim Chair, Non-Executive Director, Board Member

    Helena qualified as a Nurse in 1980 and then as a District Nurse & Practical Work Teacher spending much of her early years in clinical practice as a District Nurse practitioner and Manager. She has worked in a variety of settings in community and primary care provision within public and third sector organisations in London, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and most recently Liverpool where she was Director of Nursing and Quality for a Social Enterprise Company delivering 24 hours primary care.

    She has served as vice chair of a Local Safeguarding Board and is passionate about good governance and the experience of patients and staff.

    She is a Foundation Governor and Vice Chair of a Sixth Form College in Bury and also volunteers as a Safeguarding Lead for a local Salford Diocese church.

  • Sabira Kanji, Non-Executive Director, Board Member

    Sabira is currently the Director of Corporate Services and Finance at Social Enterprise United Kingdom. She is an experienced NED and has over 15 years’ experience in the service industry, including primary healthcare and training/educational industry in the hospitality sector.

    She has held senior positions at Board level including company secretary roles overseeing corporate governance requirements. Sabira also brings experience in independent financial leadership, strategic development providing businesses with a competitive edge with downsizing, acquisitions, mergers and restructures. Project management of key strategic initiatives, negotiating skills with government agencies has led the SMEs of both private and not for profit group companies to secure funding from the Government agencies.

    She has a wealth of experience restoring business to full health, excellent contribution in improving group company performance, group reporting, analysis and managing the finance function.
