Many of Salford’s 45 GP practices are now using this new way of working to help their patients receive the most appropriate care and treatment. It involves a member of the practice reception team, who is trained in Care Navigation, asking the patient a few more questions about the reason they want an appointment. Sometimes a GP isn’t the best person to see and the patient could be seen and treated quicker or more appropriately by a nurse, mental health practitioner or other health professional.
