What a day for Walkden and Little Hulton!

We were delighted to be part of the 2018 Walkden and Little Hulton Wellbeing Festival.

Salford Primary Care Together worked with festival organisers – Walkden Community Group – and other organisations and agencies to host the event in Parr Fold Park, Walkden, on Saturday, July 21st.

Local GP practices in the Walkden and Little Hulton neighbourhood helped to give the event a ‘health and wellbeing’ flavour with many staff members hosting health awareness and advice stands. Some GPs from the neighbourhood also took to the park’s bandstand to promote health awareness.

Salford Primary Care Together’s Innovation Manager Hemlata Fletcher said: “It was a real team effort and it created a wonderful day out for everyone. Walkden Community Group once again did a fabulous job in ensuring a full range of activities and attractions were on offer at the festival, such as donkey rides, a climbing wall, arts, crafts, music, dancing and sports.”

Year 5 children at Mesne Lea Primary School in Walkden designed a ‘passport’, which was handed out to each person entering the health and wellbeing marquee. At each stall they got this stamped and submitted into a prize draw.

The introduction of a shuttle bus this year helped to bring people to the event from Little Hulton with over 60 people using this service to arrive at the festival.

Tesco, Aldi, M&S, Salford Community Leisure and Salford Red Devils – along with a range of people – kindly donated raffle prizes.

Hemlata added: “The list of people and organisations who made this event a success is endless. So many people worked extremely hard on the planning of the festival but it was entirely worth it to see the smiles on the faces of all the visitors on the day, particularly the children.”
