Salford has reached a new milestone of vaccinating 200,000 people. Among the vaccinated people, some have received both their first dose and second doses while some received their first dose.
Salford Primary Care Together (SPCT), supported by NHS Salford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) have organised and delivered the community vaccinations programme. People from the across the city worked together to staff the vaccine centres and some have volunteered to work on weekends to help roll out the vaccination programme.
Several community vaccine sites have been set up across Salford. The first of these vaccine hubs went live at Clarendon Leisure Centre in December 2020 with two additional delivery sites at Eccles and Irlam Leisure Centres in early January 2021.
A number of specific pop up clinics targeting different communities in Salford were set up, which was also run by the community volunteers.
Dr Van Selvaraasan, clinical lead for the Salford NHS Vaccination Service, said, ‘’We would like to thank everybody who has come forward for the COVID-19 vaccine and following the government guidance. Thank you for doing your part and know that you’ve made a huge difference in fighting this global pandemic together, we really appreciate it.’’
She added, ‘’Please encourage your family and friends who are eligible for the vaccine to get their jab as this is the only way forward to normality and protect each other’’
People aged 25 and older can go online or call 119 to book. If you receive a text, please book your appointment and join the millions who are already protect.
Current eligibility for the vaccine through the Salford NHS vaccination service include people aged 30 and over, people aged 16+ who have underlying health conditions, and carers, both paid and unpaid.
People aged 40 and over can attend walk-in clinics at Little Hulton. Vaccination bus also parked in Eccles offering vaccine to people aged 25 and over, these are regularly promoted through NHS Salford CCG’s social media for regular days and times updates.
People aged 39 and under who are eligible and pregnant women will be offered the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, in line with guidance.
